Steeped in History

Originally opened in 1854, this Grade II listed building was formerly known as the Low-Level Train Station in Wolverhampton. It was jointly built by the Oxford, Worcester, and Wolverhampton (OWWR) and Great Western Railway (GWR), on their route from London Paddington to Birkenhead via Birmingham Snow Hill.

The frontage of the building was originally designed by engineer Sir John Fowler, the rack work by Mr Henry Robertson and the roof and layout by Mr Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Mr Isambard Kingdom Brunel is considered ‘one of the most ingenious and prolific figures in engineering history’ and was voted second in ‘100 greatest Britons’ poll run by the BBC in 2002.

The station building is two storeys high and constructed of Staffordshire blue brick in Italianate style.

Transformed into a state-of-the-art venue

In 2012, after the building was derelict for almost thirty years, two private investors discovered the enormous potential of the building who then decided to transform it into the city’s most sought after venue for Weddings, Events & Conferences in Wolverhampton with three opulent suites and five meeting rooms.

Grand Station has been transformed into a state-of-the-art venue, noble, very modern, equipped with the latest technology, but still retaining its historical character.
