In May 2024, Grand Station had the absolute pleasure of hosting the historic two-day final of Miss England, marking a significant milestone for both the competition and the city of Wolverhampton.
This glamorous event showcased the incredible talent, hard work, and inspiring stories of 40 finalists from across the UK. The pageant was a celebration of empowerment, diversity, and the true essence of beauty, showcasing the undeniable achievements and determination of women all over the country.
The winner of Miss England 2024, Milla Magee, captivated the judges to secure her place in the 72nd Miss World Competition.
A Historic First for Wolverhampton
For the first time in its long history, Miss England took place in Wolverhampton, and Grand Station was the perfect venue for such an iconic event. Alice Jones, the reigning Miss Black Country and 2022 Miss England finalist, shared her excitement, “It’s such a glamorous and prestigious event that will put Wolverhampton on the events map... There’s been a lot of regeneration into the area and by bringing people from all over the country to the area, Wolverhampton will have its chance to showcase this.”
A Shift in Focus
One of the most notable changes in Miss England 2024 was the removal of the swimwear round, a move that received global attention. Instead of judging based on physical appearance alone, the judges focused on the contestants' educational achievements, careers, and personal stories.
